Jeeno Thitikul: Pre-Championship Press Conference

World No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul meets with the media prior to the start of the 2025 KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

THE MODERATOR: We're joined by Jeeno Thitikul. Welcome to field ranch east at PGA Frisco. How do you feel about your game this week?

JEENO THITKUL: I feel pretty good about the way I'm hitting. I have my coach here since U.S. Open, and then kind of do some of the work together like to fix some kind of things, not too much of a big deal, but just put the work on track. It feels good.

The course looks good too; wide open than U.S. Open does to me.

Q. When you just hear Greg call you world No. 2, how does that make you feel?

JEENO THITKUL: Good, but feel the same to be honest to me, as a person, not as a golfer. I mean, also as a golfer. Never thought I was going to reach No. 1 in the world, as earlier of when I was 19. But now No. 2 in the world I think still feel the same how I put the work on because I feel like what's number am I, my job is the same.

Q. You've been known for having amazingly consistent game over the last year or so. I'm curious from your perspective, what part of your game right now is the most consistent?

JEENO THITKUL: I would say from tee to green it's pretty like consistency-wise, and I pretty much want to keep it going and going. I'm not the best short game out there, but I think from like tee balls, approaching shots would be my strength.

Q. What do you think about the sight lines on different holes on this course? A lot of different people are talking about the sight lines off the tee. How do you feel about them from what you've seen so far?

JEENO THITKUL: I think it's going to be a big key for this course is the wind because like I know it's the sight lines sometimes, but the wind really picked up today. I play 18 holes. And it was like blowing all day from first hole to the last hole, and it's completely changing from when I practice on Sunday and Monday. The distance might also changing as well.

I think, if you keep the ball on the fairway should be have a good chance to -- making par is not that hard, but like making birdie should be tricky.

Q. You said you've been working with your coach. Do you have a swing thought or something, a drill, something you're focused on?

JEENO THITKUL: Now, yes. I always have a swing thought going. I feel like when I don't have anything to think about when I'm going to hit, it's just like I lose something.

So I have to think about maybe just at least just one thing to hitting one ball. I feel like a tricky point to going backswing or downswing.

Q. What do you see as the biggest challenge here this week?

JEENO THITKUL: Like I said, the wind, and then the pin position. Because like it has some hole today that it's back right, 180 yards, wind right-to-left pretty strong, and then we have long irons; we can't go for the pin.

So I think wind should be pretty big key because, like I said, from hole No. 1 till like 18 I got I think like 30, 40 miles.

Q. Nelly was in here a bit ago. She said she injured herself yesterday hitting out of the rough. Is the rough an area of concern for you at all this week?

JEENO THITKUL: Yeah, I think from all the majors we've had, the rough -- here it's kind of wide open to my eyes compared to the U.S. Open. I think, yeah, if you go into a rough -- it's depend on your luck as well.

Sometime I went there and I had a good line, but if it's like deep down, sit down, mmm, very wedge on out, yeah.

Q. How many times have you played Fields Ranch?

JEENO THITKUL: Sunday was my first time, last Sunday.

Q. What do you think is going to be the key here besides the wind? Where are those shots that you think are...

JEENO THITKUL: I think the green is kind of tricky too. Like I said, here it wasn't that hard to make a par, but it's hard to make birdies. We'll see if like someone can hole the putt a lot this week should be really good -- or really be on top of the leaderboard.

Q. Do you live locally, close by?

JEENO THITKUL: Yeah, 25 minutes.

Q. Can you tell us about the area and what it is playing golf around here?

JEENO THITKUL: I can tell about the food (laughter). Good Asian food, Koreatown.

Q. What do you like the most? The food, I guess.

JEENO THITKUL: I like the weather. Weather-wise similar to Korea. I'd rather be hot than freezing.

And I think it's easy. I think I get better playing with the winds when I live here.

Q. 15 winners on Tour this year. To what do you attribute so many different winners this year?

JEENO THITKUL: Winning out here is hard, to be honest. To everyone, to multiple wins, to like especially major wins. I mean, like week in and week out we're trying to do the best that we can do, but it's a lot of talented players coming and new generations, new face.

I don't know, if you're going to win out here, definitely you're going to have a talent. Depends on the lucks and the times as well.

Q. Is there a club that you primarily practice around here? And why did you -- when did you decide to base yourself here?

JEENO THITKUL: Here, right, this course? Chipping around. Oh, no, I mean, putting.

Q. No. You said you live near here. What course do you practice at?

JEENO THITKUL: Oh, what course. I thought what club. I do practice at TPC Craig Ranch, but they closed off after the PGA event. So DAC would be my home now, Dallas Atlantic Club.

Q. When did you move here?

JEENO THITKUL: I bought a house here 2023, so for two years.

Q. You have seven top 10s in majors, but you haven't got the first win yet. I'm curious, now that you're world No. 2 and ascending, do you put extra pressure on yourself to get that breakthrough win?

JEENO THITKUL: Every major I just want to make the cut, to be honest. It would be really great to win it, and definitely I can tell that it would be like everyone dreams to win a major.

To me, what I have now under my belt. I'm pretty happy with all I've achieved. If I can get it, it would be great, but if not, I don't have anything to regret about.

Q. You said that you were living here. Have you played this course a bunch?

JEENO THITKUL: No.

Q. You just practiced some?

JEENO THITKUL: No, I never come here before the tournament weeks at all. Like Saturday it's my first day here. Not practice on Saturday, but just like practice hitting balls, but not on the course.

Q. Have you done any of the restaurants here or anything like that?

JEENO THITKUL: Restaurant here around?

Q. Have you been to any of the restaurants or anything like that?

JEENO THITKUL: No, not yet.
