Hear from Rio Takeda at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.
Q. Rio Takeda is with us now at the 2025 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. Rio, really nice start for you today. What are your thoughts on your opening round?
RIO TAKEDA: (Through translation.) Started off with a bogey but I was able to bounce back quickly. I think that really kept my rhythm going for the whole day.
Q. What do you think was the best part of your game today?
RIO TAKEDA: (Through translation.) Felt like the beginning I had several challenging par putts where I was able to make, so I think that really kept my momentum going.
Q. So each player is dealing with the conditions in a different way. The heat, the wind, all of this. What is your way? Drink a lot of water? What do you do to preserve yourself?
RIO TAKEDA: (Through translation.) Just very simple. Like you said, try to drink water as much as I can and just trying to focus on my game up until the last hole.
Q. The last thing: How comfortable are you in contention in a major? Does it happen often?
RIO TAKEDA: (Through translation.) I usually don't play good on the first day so pretty happy with that. I'll try to keep the same rhythm for tomorrow and going on.
