Schmelzel is an American professional golfer who had a breakout season in 2024, recording seven top-10 finishes, including a career-best runner-up performance at the Blue Bay LPGA. She made her Solheim Cup debut that same year, representing the Untied States with a 2-2 record. As of the 2025 season she has made the cut in every appearance, including two top-10 finishes.
She is a former All-American Honorable Mention at the University of South Carolina and was a 2016 Golfweek All-American.
