Lexi Thompson found the fairway off the tee on the 399-yard, par-4 17th during the second round at Congressional. She was surging, having just tapped home a one-footer for her 5th birdie of the day on the 16th.

Then, with her second shot, she didn't bother with her putter at all. Thompson's wedge from below the hole ripped right back, catching the side of the cup and rattling home for a two.

The 11-time winner heard the crowd's roar, then high-fived her caddie Will Davidson. Thompson moved to four-under, four strokes back of leader In Gee Chun, who had yet to tee off Friday.
