Starting times for Round 1 & 2 have been released for this week’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and there’s no shortage of star power at PGA Frisco with many young, budding stars among them.
Take a look at some of the groups HERE and see which ones jump off the page for you.
The top three in the Rolex Rankings will compete together on Thursday and Friday. Top-ranked Nelly Korda plays with second-ranked Jeeno Thitikul and world number three Lydia Ko at 8:28 am CT. The 2021 champion, Korda enters this week with the momentum of a strong tie for second finish in the U.S. Women’s Open. Thitikul won last month’s Mizuho Americas Open and has three wins in her last twelve starts. Ko is the reigning AIG Women’s Open winner, and her closest call in this Championship, of course, came in 2016 at Sahalee when she finished runner-up to Brooke Henderson in a playoff.

In another must-watch group, Brooke Henderson goes off with newly minted U.S. Women’s Open champ Maja Stark and Mao Saigo at 8:39 am CT on Thursday. It will be interesting to see how Stark performs on this stage in the very next Major after breaking through for her first one (in her seventeenth major start) last month at Erin Hills.

Fans will want to follow along when the last three KPMG Women’s PGA Champions go off together at 2:06 pm CT. This group include last year’s champ at Sahalee, Amy Yang, the 2023 winner at Baltusrol, Ruoning Yin, and In Gee Chun, who took the title at Congressional in 2022.

Another group of past champions tee off at 1:22 pm CT with Danielle Kang, Sei Young Kim, and Yani Tseng.
Fan favorite Lexi Thompson is grouped with Yuka Saso and the streaky Yealimi Noh at 1:55 pm CT. It’s hard to believe that Thompson is competing in her 69th major championship this week at age 30 and enters the week at PGA Frisco off the heels of a T4 last week in the Meijer LPGA Classic. Noh’s had a breakthrough year thus far, nabbing her first LPGA Tour win in the Founders Cup in February by an impressive four shots, and the 23-year-old boasts five top 11s in ten starts thus far this season. The American ranks 4th in greens and regulation, and scoring average this season, at those strengths would only figure to be a strong asset for the challenge Fields Ranch East presents.
