Plenty of big names and international stars missed the cut on what’s proving to be a very difficult examination at Fields Ranch East through two days of wind and heat in the Dallas area.

The cut ended up at 7-over for the week, with a handful of big names getting inside of it at the eleventh hour, such as Ariya Jutanugarn and Rose Zhang — who both made birdie on their closing hole (paired together) — to play the weekend.

Azahara Munoz also rallied late in the day. After a bogey on the short par-4 15th, she stood on the cut line at 7-over, then responded with a couple of birdies to give herself a critical cushion and ended up at 6-over after rounds of 75-75.

Among those who missed the cut right on the number, 2009 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner Anna Norqvist finished at 8-over par after a tough 6-over 78 followed by a 2-over 74 on Friday.

Two-time U.S. Solheim Cup player Allisen Corpuz also missed it right on the number at 8-over after a 73-79 first two days.

A significant group ended up at 9-over including 2008 and 2011 champion Yani Tseng who posted rounds of 75-78. Last year’s champ from Sahalee, Amy Yang, also finished her week at 9-over par. The 35-year-old resident of nearby Irving, Texas showed some fight toward the end, making a critical birdie on the 17th, but ultimately fell short after a miscue and bogey on the last.

Last year’s co-runner-up to Yang at Sahalee, Lilia Vu, also finished at 9-over par for the championship. The two-time major winner couldn’t get any momentum going and unfortunately didn’t make a birdie on Friday, and ended up with 77-76.

Georgia Hall finished her week at 10-over par, as did last year’s U.S. Solheim Cup captain Stacy Lewis. 2010 champion Cristie Kerr completed her week at 12-over par along with 2020 AIG Women’s Open champ Sophia Popov.

2017 champ Danielle Kang finished up at 13-over and will also miss the weekend.

Jin Young Ko also withdrew from the championship, citing injury. She opened with a 2-over 74 and made double bogey on the 12th hole, leading to a 6-over par four-hole stretch for the 15-time LPGA Tour winner.
