KPMG Women's PGA Championship is Coming to Bethpage Black: New York to Host 3 PGA of America Major Championships

The PGA of America announced today that New York State will host three upcoming Major Championships.

Bethpage Black in Farmingdale will be the site of the 2028 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the 2033 PGA Championship while the 2035 PGA Championship will be contested at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester.

Bethpage Black, site of the 2025 Ryder Cup taking place Sept. 23-28, will host its first KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June 2028. It will be the eighth time the event is contested in New York state, and the first since 2015 (Westchester Country Club, Harrison). Currently ranked #38 among Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Courses and #34 on Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the U.S., the Black Course will be the highest ranked golf course to host the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship since KPMG took over as title sponsor in 2015.

Bethpage Black hosted its first PGA Championship in 2019, while the Championship has been played at Oak Hill four times (1980, ‘03, ‘13, ‘23). The 2033 and 2035 editions will be the 15th and 16th conducted in New York, the most of any state.

These three Championships will add to our Association’s extensive history in the state of New York, and we cannot wait to see the world’s best players compete on Long Island and in Rochester.”

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is a collaboration between the PGA of America, KPMG and the LPGA. Broadcast in partnership with NBC, the 156-player field is annually one of the strongest in women’s golf.

The 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco offered a record $12 million dollar purse, tied for the highest in the women’s game. With Bethpage Black hosting the 2025 Ryder Cup, each of the next three KPMG Women’s PGA Championship venues are past or future Ryder Cup host sites: The 2026 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will be held June 25-28 at Hazeltine National Golf Club (2016, 2029 Ryder Cups; 2002, ‘09 PGA Championships) in Chaska, Minnesota; and Congressional Country Club (2037 Ryder Cup; 2030 PGA Championship) in Bethesda, Maryland, will host its second KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2027.

The 2019 PGA Championship saw 29-year-old Brooks Koepka outlast runner-up Dustin Johnson to claim his second-consecutive Wanamaker Trophy. Koepka shot 63-65-70-74 to finish 8-under and win by two. Koepka joined Tiger Woods as the only back-to-back winners of the PGA Championship since it changed to stroke play in 1958. He was also just the fifth wire-to-wire PGA Champion and first since Hal Sutton in 1983 at Riviera Country Club.

Located in suburban Long Island in close proximity to New York City, Bethpage is a mecca for public golf featuring five 18-hole regulation golf courses, including the highly regarded Black Course. Bethpage Black was designed by famed golden-age architect A.W. Tillinghast and first opened for play in the spring of 1936. Rees Jones led the renovation of the Black Course in 1997-98. Bethpage Black also hosted the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Opens.

Oak Hill will host its fifth PGA Championship in 2035, trailing only Southern Hills Country Club (which will host its sixth in 2032) for the most in history. Oak Hill’s championship legacy also includes the 1995 Ryder Cup, two Senior PGA Championships (2008, ‘19), three U.S. Opens (1956, ‘68, ‘89) and the U.S. Senior Open (1984).

Koepka again made history in 2023 when he won the 105th PGA Championship by two shots and captured his third Wanamaker Trophy, joining Jack Nicklaus and Woods as the only players to win three or more PGA Championships in the stroke play era. Koepka finished at 9-under for the week following a final-round 67. Nicklaus (1980), Shaun Micheel (2003) and Jason Dufner (2013) also claimed titles at Oak Hill.

Oak Hill’s East Course, designed by legendary architect Donald Ross, opened in 1926. Andrew Green restored the course in 2019, attempting to bring it back as closely as possible to its original design.
