It’s hard not to feel good about Miyu Yamashita’s chances at Hazeltine National this week after her recent form, which includes a playoff win at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give on Father’s Day.
“Our whole team has been working hard together throughout the season, and this feels like a result of that effort,” said Yamashita. “My family, including my dad, he's [my] coach, was following along even though they weren't here, they were important, and I'm glad we were able to share this great result together.
Riding high headed into Championship week.

Yamashita's final-round, 8-under par, 64 was the low round of the event and helped her erase a 5-shot deficit heading into Sunday in Michigan.
Yamashita and Lottie Woad, who already owns a pair of LPGA Tour victories in her young career, went to a sudden death playoff at Blythefield Country Club after Yamashita’s final round charge.
Yamashita made birdie on the par-5 18th to clinch her third victory on the LPGA Tour.
It all seems to be coming together for Yamashita, who now turns her attention to Hazeltine and the third Major Championship of the 2026 LPGA season.
“Winning for the first time this season gives me a lot of confidence.”
Her best result of 2026 prior to her victory is a third place finish at the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G in May.
Yamashita also has a Major Championship on her resume of 3 LPGA Tour victories, at the 2025 AIG Women's Open.
“I feel like my swing, ball striking, and short game are all trending in the right direction, so I'm excited about where my game is and looking forward to next week.
In her only other appearance at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship last year at PGA Frisco in Texas, Yamashita finished in a tie for 6th place.
